S.F. La Raza Lawyers Assoc. Public Interest Fellowship

Public Interest Scholarship Competition

Every year, we award scholarships to assist law students and recent graduates who are interested in summer employment with Bay Area non-profit organizations serving the Latino community. The objective of the fellowships is to enhance the delivery of legal services to the Latino community. Scholarships are awarded up to $5,000.

Application materials are available in early Spring and normally require a project description, statement of qualifications and need, and a letter of recommendation.

Scholarships are awarded in areas where there is a substantial Latino population in need of legal services. The Association gives priority to scholarship applicants who meet at least one of the following objectives:

* Projects to develop or expand legal services in the areas of housing, employment, discrimination, immigration and naturalization.
* Projects which develop materials and training to educate the Latino community about their legal rights and to facilitate their access to the justice system and the courts.
* Creative projects not included within these guidelines will be considered.
